The Triad
Information Reading Service (TIRS),
located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, provides access
to print materials to economically disadvantaged blind and
print impaired citizens in its 30 county listening area,
which includes the counties of Davidson, Davie, Forsyth,
Guilford, Nash, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin.
It is an affiliate of InTouch
Networks, a reading service broadcasting from New York City.
TIRS supplements national programming provided by InTouch Networks with
various local programs including the North Carolina State and Local News.This
news is taken from newspapers from the Triad and surrounding communities.
TIRS also provides programming specifically for children and senior citizens,
interview shows, and various books read by local volunteers.
